On the Road Again

On the road again, we cannot wait to get on the road again! And on the road again we did. This time, we headed off for the White Lion, Sheffield. Break a Leg, Cage of Crows, and yours truly, were all set to sing our figurative socks (and sandals) off (well, we are folkies).

This gig was our chance to give something back to society and rise money for a fantastic cause - The Edale Mountain Rescue Team. These guys are completely volunteer run and rely on donations just to cover the running costs of the operation (things like petrol and insurance for the landrovers, walkie - talkies,  that sort of thing) and there isn’t a single day of the year that they don’t work. If you have your leg stuck down a hole in the mountains, they will always come help, even if they are: in the bath, having a cuppa, asleep, watching Netflix, listening to a bootlegged Kootch CD, watching cat videos on YouTube, painting the stairs, joining a cult, washing the pots, eating Pringles, shaving the cat, picking their nose, taking pilates, collecting wood for the fire, cooking paella, winning Masterchef, picking mushrooms (the legal ones, obviously), learning the banjo, worshipping Beelzebub (hence the banjo, are we right?!), they will come out and unstuck your leg! Aren’t they great?! Answer: Yes, yes they are.

Break a Leg were on top form (as always) and played some great blues and Jazz covers. The club runs every month and they do a fantastic job. The pub is old and kooky, and the stage is a set away from the bar, which is also nice. The audience were in good spirits (by this, of course we mean they groaned in the right places when we told puns).

Cage of Crows also did a very kooky set. Not just musically, but all round entertaining, the full shebang, there were even props! PROPS!

It is well worth your time to go and see Break a Leg and Friends, stick your hand in your pockets, and raise money for fantastic charities every month. You will be in good company. Our only complaint, as always, is that we didn’t win the raffle.
