Witches… Let us tell you a story.
Why did they hang witches? Burn them? Stone them? Accuse women in the first place? WELCOME TO KOOTCH WIKI, we hope you’re ready…
The reasons are many and varying. When diseases first started ripping through villages, they had no idea why people were dying. Young women were an easy target to blame - they were cursing people! Duh.
Not only this but they made a great source of income for witch doctors - exorcisms here we come. Not only could they torture young women, they could charge their families for the privilege! Gor’ blimey gov’nor! Then, to milk the cow further (no cows were harmed in the making of witches) - shock horror the exorcism didn’t work, darn it - better hang the poor lass and then sell her organs, bones, full body, to anyone willing to pay a shilling or two for it. Ker-ching.
This of course then became such a cash cow diseases didn’t even need to be killing people anymore for them to have a good hanging.
People dying? Witch. Crops failing? Witch. Need money? Witch. Consumer recommended brand of the year? Which? (well, we had to throw in a joke somewhere!)
Anyway… Here’s a song we done did about it. We hope you enjoy it.
If you don’t. You’re probably a witch.
Love, Harmonies, Cwtch.
