The Sailor and the Siren

Because the only thing worse than it being Monday tomorrow, is Kootch releasing a new song.

We are going to do something a little different with this one and intersperse it with some pictures we took while away in Flamborough. They really are nothing to do with the song, but we had a great time and want to share that with you, because our only friends are you - internet friends. Aren’t you lucky?

Anyway, we were hoping some pictures of cute Puffins might spur you on to reach the bottom of the blog where the new song and video awaits, lurking, like some kind of tiger, or rabid guinea pig, or repressed memory of that one time your auntie kissed you right on the lips at Christmas *shudders.

Besides, there are some links between the pictures and the song. For one the song is about the sea. For two, erm, well, we don’t need a two because one was so great!

The song is really about a sailor (duh). Sent off to sea by his king (surprise), with other young men that have never sailed before (bigger surprise), to fight in a war they had no business fighting (there’s a twist), and could never possibly win (glad that’s sorted).

No matter what ship he sails, he prays to the god of the sea to take him home safely to his wife. After battling with the ocean for twelve days, when all seems lost and he misses his wife, he sees a girl adrift among the debris. She calls for his aid, and in return offers him fame, wealth, and a two for one coupon on Veggie Whoppers (TM) at Burger King. What happens from there is up to you to decide - because if we always provided closure we’d be duping therapists out of a job (if we didn’t write these long-winded blogs, with terrible puns, and no tangible links between the pictures and the content, we would also be doing the same. It’s a public service for therapists, really. In fact, every time we write a blog our local therapist buys us flowers as a thank you for the increase in clients.)

If you’re still reading this, congrats! You have made is to the bottom of the blog and therefore to the song! We suggest you turn your hearing aids to the ‘off’ setting and enjoy!
