That’s right, after months of recording, mixing and mastering we are finally launching the album. Now that we have launched it, you can launch it too, launch it:
- Into your CD players
- Into your car radios
- Into your Ipod* (other devices available)
- Into your dustbin
- Into space!
- Into the home of an elderly relative (you didn’t want to be in the will anyway)
- Into the home of your arch enemy, to break them, once and for all
But, seriously, this has been a labour of love. As always, digital copies of the album are up to listen to, completely free, at your leisure. You can either listen to it via the ‘Album’ tab on the site, or the video at the bottom of this page. We have put a little donation pot on the album page, so if you love it, and you download it from the site (info on how to do this on the page), then feel free to donate whatever to the cause and it will all go back in the music making pot. Of course, if you hate it, then still donate, but donate loads in the hope we will emigrate to some distant land, never to be heard from again.
A wise coffee mug, sat in a boathouse kitchen, once said:
‘home recording, the art of singing to yourself while burning money’.
We have enjoyed, (immensely) the making of the physical albums and if you want to nab a bargain head HERE and for the glorious price of £6 you will receive a hand designed, hand recorded, hand printed CD. BUT DON’T FORGET, these CD’s go as far as your imagination! They aren’t just CD’s, they could be:
- Tiny frisbees, for small dogs
- Massive unicycle wheels, for small guinea pigs
- Tiny earrings, for giant friends
- Spare tires for your 3/130 size model Reliant Robin
- Massive neck ruffs for your pet rats
- A way to finally get the awful neighbours to move out
- Coasters
Speaking of coasters! (fabulous segue if we say so ourselves) We also have COASTERS! for just £2 they can be used in much the same way as the CD’s, you lucky dogs you! And like we have said before, if you aren’t sure, you can always listen to the album on here first! Try before you buy and all that.
The Making of
We thought we would give a little insight as to how we made these CD’s, after recording, mixing and mastering.
Seen as Oh No! seemed to be our first dig into our own political ditty we thought it a worthy title track. We bought the 100% recycled kraft sleeves first, as we wanted to do something as eco friendly as possible. We liked the childlike designs and ideas of a closed fist clutching the balloon (like the uncaring upper class character of the title song), and the surprise on the back of a dainty hand holding a pin (we like to think us dainty looking working classes hold the small and simple needle of power, BANG). So we got to scribbling and designing straight away.
Soon, we had the designs uploaded and ready to go and the kraft paper was itching for us to put our stamp on it, so to speak.
SO we ordered some stamps from Get Stamped, an eco friendly company based in the UK. We like these guys a lot as the oak for the stamp handles is ethically sourced and for every stamp they sell, they plant a tree! So, this album has helped to plant two more trees in the world, treeriffic! They were also helpful in helping us with sizing and getting the right inks for different projects.
So we set up our work station. The sleeve company had sent us double album covers by accident so Dean set to cutting them all in half (ah, what fun we have!).
Next was the nerve wracking bit of putting the first ink on the brand new stamps (eek). Then we individually stamped every cover, making every one slightly different to the last!
Then we had to glue all the covers together. We lost a couple where we accidentally glued the things shut, but for the most part, we had an absolute blast.
Next we went on to stamp the CD’s themselves. Using the ink we had for the kraft paper - oops. It never actually set and just smudged the heck out of it. So back to the drawing board, we did our research and we found the right ink for the surface of the CD’s. Our bums did a little wince as we tried again - SUCCESS!
We burnt 50 CD’s (this took almost a full day, individually burning each CD, Dean nearly lost the will and Beth smashed her own personal record for coffee consumed) and toddled off to the car to see if the names of the tracks show up on the car radio.
’It’s great. And I know we burnt 50 - But you spelled ‘Shady Grove’ ‘ Shady Griove'‘
’WHAT?!’
’Nah, just kidding, we’re good to go.’
’That wasn’t even funny.’
Story of my life.
So! If you want a CD then please get one, before Beth’s mum steals them all to insulate her wall cavities. They will be sent second class, anywhere in the UK. If you want to order from outside the UK then just get in touch and we will see what we can do. Same goes for the coasters.
We know times are tough right now, so if you aren’t sure, we hope you enjoy listening to them, completely free, on here.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us on our musical journey. See you on the other side.
Love, harmonies and cwtch,
Kootch.
