What with COVID, lockdowns, shut downs and reboots, we have been taking pleasure in the little freedoms that have been allowed.
When the hairdressers first announced that they were safe to open again, we were over the moon, and so was our hair (almost literally over the moon, it had grown a lot in the six months we had been sat in our jim-jams, eating jammy dodgers and watching Bodger and Badger)
We digress… We popped into our super fab local hairdressers, looking like Cousin It and had a chat with Mel of the Mel’s Cut n’ Curl. She told us about how she used to be a chorus girl at the local night club and loved dancing. Her daughter (Beth’s stylist, Remy) was also a keen gymnast and dancer. Mel had recently traced her family lineage back to the circus, and she never knew. Just one of life’s little serendipitous moments, do we inherit love, passion and hobbies through our genes? This passion for showbiz wasn’t something that was taught as Mel had no idea of the connection until she looked further.
These musing and whimsical thoughts seeped into our creative process and while the song is nothing really to do with Mel, Remy, Mel’s Cut n’ Curl, or our AMAZING hair-do’s, it did help birth the concept of the song. Do we ever fully know who is cutting our hair/ scanning our shopping/ teaching our children? Who were they in a past life and what other amazing things can they do that we don’t know about.
One thing is certain - we’re sure glad they chose to style our hair!
As always, love, harmonies, cwtch,
